Reed's Reassurance Makes the Missing Night More Troubling

Amber attended the party because Reed, whom she calls her only friend, persuaded her it would be enjoyable. Remembering his warmth intensifies her fear that an unexplained event has damaged that friendship. Rayne invokes Reed in his accusations too, turning the friendship into a source of pressure during the morning argument, while Amber's memory of accepting Reed's reassurance helps explain why the situation feels so disorienting.

How does Reed's role in persuading Amber to attend affect her fear about what she cannot remember?
