Chapter 1

Mated To The Big Bad Alpha

Olive was terrified but determined as she approached the black door.

Her life had been a nightmare since she was forced into a cult at 14, abused, raped, and manipulated into becoming a vessel for their twisted purposes.

Now, at 22, she was on a mission to kill Wayne Knight, the infamous Big Bad Alpha, in the hope of escaping the cult’s grip.

She entered the dark, empty house, her gun ready.

The sound of distant music led her upstairs, where she believed Wayne was. The house was eerily quiet, with no guards in sight—a rare stroke of luck. She approached a half-open door, thinking he must be inside. But the room was empty.

Panic set in. Where was he?

Suddenly, she was ambushed, guns pointed at her head. Before she could react, she was knocked unconscious.

When Olive woke, it was raining. She was tied to a pole outside, soaked and freezing. She screamed for help, knowing deep down it was futile. The cult would kill her for failing, and Alpha Knight’s men would likely torture her first. She prayed for a quick death, tears mixing with the rain.

A sharp pain struck her shoulder, followed by more blows. She was being whipped with a thorned lash, her skin tearing with each strike. The pain was unbearable, but worse was the realization that she would die without ever finding her mate—her only hope for freedom.

As the whipping continued, Olive’s body went limp. Her torturer finally stopped, and through her blurred vision, she recognized the face of her tormentor—Cynthia, the daughter of the man who had forced her into the cult. Cynthia smirked down at her, relishing Olive’s suffering.

“Hello, Olive,” Cynthia said with cruel satisfaction before Olive lost consciousness again.

It felt like a thousand bags of cement were tied around Olive's body when she woke up. She couldn't even move her neck to look around because it felt so heavy and painful. She however knew she wasn't outside anymore. She was still on the bare floor, but under a roof. Olive didn't stay for long before someone realized she was awake. Maybe they all came to check up on her turn by turn.

“She's awake,” a man announced. Fear skittered through her heart. She was going to face another torture again.

Two strong arms pulled her up and she cried in pain. Her injuries hadn't healed at all despite the healing ability of the body of wolf shifters. Dry and fresh blood were still all over her but her hair and clothes were already dry.

She was dragged into a room and pushed to the floor roughly. She screamed and hugged the floor while crying. Oh, her life would have been roses if she had found her parents instead of running into the arms of a strange man who turned her life into a living hell. She hated him. She hated The Vrek Cult. She hated her life.

“I'm really disappointed in The Vrek Cult. They sent you? Seriously? You? Is that how badly they wanted you dead?” Olive heard the woman's mocking voice.

She opened her swollen eyelids and peered at the blurry image of Cynthia. She was the daughter of the man who made her what she was, the man who forced her to join the cult at 14. She hated both Cynthia and her father. She however couldn't believe she was with Alpha Knight. How was that possible? She was a part of their cult…she must have pledged her allegiance. How did she free herself from the blood oath? Did she find her mate?

Wait—

Was Alpha Knight her mate? If so, then Olive was doomed. Cynthia hated her as much as she hated both her and her father. No wonder she whipped her mercilessly. She wouldn't let her mate, the BBA, spare her. God! Why did she run into Cynthia here?

“She's so weak. When you said The Vrek Cult was coming after The BBA, I thought we were in for a bloody fight. Too bad, they sent a clumsy she-wolf,” another man mocked and they laughed. By the sound of the laughter, Olive could tell that they were about four or more in the room.

“I'm-not-weak,” Olive managed to croak. Cynthia kicked her hard in the face and her lips and nose bursted out blood. Of course, they laughed at her.

Cynthia bent down and pulled her by the hair as tight as she could that Olive felt strands of hair pulling out of her scalp. She closed her eyes in pain.

“You are a pathetic weakling, Olive. Just because you succeeded in all other stupid missions you embarked on doesn't make you a heroine. You just haven't seen a mission too strong for you. Oh! You already have and it is going to be the end of you,” she spat directly into her face then pushed her head with so much force that it hit the floor hard and blood began to ooze out.

Olive prayed she'd die because of that hit so she could escape seeing The Big Bad Alpha himself.

“Tell the Alpha she's conscious enough to feel pain now,” Cynthia ordered like she was the lady boss. Well, she was most likely the Alpha's mate and their Luna.

A man walked out of the room to call Alpha Knight and Olive's heartbeat increased drastically. This was it. Her death…without ever feeling the love and comfort in having a mate. She remembered her prayer to the moon earlier and her tears fell.

She opened her eyes wide so she could see a bit clearer. The men's faces were visible now even though her vision got blurred at several intervals. Her eyes were fixed at the door, ignoring all the wicked and mocking looks staged on her by the people in the room—especially Cynthia.

Finally, he walked in. He was a tall man—really tall. He was well built and looked like a soldier. But other than his terrifying stature, Wayne Knight was a very handsome man. His light brown hair was in a fancy haircut and long curled strands fell slightly over his face. His eyebrows were thick and straight, giving him a terrifying yet sexy stare. He had thick eyelashes over his medium sized eyes. His whole face was a masterpiece and Olive wouldn't mind analyzing that work of art if it wasn't for the situation she was in.

Wayne's scent filled the room and it was like the scent of rain on a dusty forest floor. Which was the scent she loved so much. It filled her head and for a second, she inhaled it deeply. Cynthia smirked at her and walked up to him.

“Hey, Wayne,” she called him by his first name, showing Olive that she and him were on first name terms. Olive got the message pretty well.

“Hey,” he said in the coolest and sexiest voice Olive had ever heard. It was like smoothing butter over cake.

Cynthia wrapped her arms over his neck and made him face her by the right—giving Olive a clear view. She raised her head, tiptoed and planted a soft kiss on his lips. Then she nibbled on the lower one until he took hold of her and kissed her back. She moaned softly and he unlocked from her.

Olive's already fragile heart shattered. Sure, she suspected they were mates. But seeing them kiss so passionately killed her on the inside.

Wayne's eyes moved over to Olive and settled on her face. Their gaze locked and none of them looked away for what seemed like an eternity. It wasn't like she didn't want to look away, she just couldn't. It was like her eyes were glued to his permanently. She felt like she was seeing through his glassy brown eyeballs. Like she was entering a whole new world.

Suddenly, her wolf stood on all fours inside of her and her furs raised. She felt agitated, like she wanted to jump out after finding a way out of a prison. Olive could feel her trying hard to jump out.

Cynthia brought out a gun and showed it to Wayne, even though he hadn't broken his eye contact with Olive.

“I suggest you give her a quick death. Don't want you to waste your energy when you could use it for me in bed,” she whined and arranged his messy hair from his face. Olive's wolf growled angrily inside her at the mention of Wayne being in bed with Cynthia. And why was she touching his hair? How dare she touch his hair!

A muscle flicked in Wayne's face and his jaw clenched tightly. Everyone in the room knew Olive was done for. Cynthia just wanted to parade the fact that she was sleeping with him by saying what she said earlier. She wanted him to actually give her a slow death.

Olive gulped and finally lowered her eyes from his. He exhaled and looked at his men.

“Out,” he ordered and they all didn't waste a minute in scampering out of the room. Cynthia placed her hand on his shoulder and stood beside him like an equal. He slowly looked down at her fingers sprawled on his shoulder then at her face…he was looking annoyed.

“You too, Cynthia,” he said and her eyes widened.

“What?” she mumbled.

“Out,” he ordered coldly and she exhaled angrily. She glanced at Olive and gave her a deathly look before leaving the room.

Wayne stared at Olive again. He looked all over her battered body and his fists clenched inadvertently. Her face was a terrible mess. Blood was flowing thickly from her nose down her chin and her eyes were swollen. He could hear her heart beating too fast and too loud. She was terrified.

He took a step closer to her and she whimpered and shifted back in fear. His muscles tensed with anger. He turned around and walked out of the room, banging the door behind him. Olive's heart thudded and she crawled into a ball. Wayne Knight was terrifying…but why was her heart also wishing he was still staring at her?

Olive tried to calm down but her wolf was still at alert, savoring Wayne's smell. What was wrong with that furry creature of hers? Her wolf heard her and growled the answer to her questions…“Mate.”

Chapter 2

She's His F*Ucking Mate

Olive's eyes widened in shock. Wayne Knight… her mate? Was that even possible? She laughed at her stupidity. Yes, she was stupid enough to think that. She knew that it was just her mind playing with her and giving her what she desired. She desired a mate, and her mind was toying with her. Wayne was Cynthia's mate. That explained why she was with them in the first place, because she couldn't work against the cult unless she was mated.

Olive shoved the thought of Wayne being her mate back inside. She growled at her wolf to sit still and stop miscalculating things.

Though this was the very first time her wolf had acted this way with someone, she still didn't want to believe her. The Big Bad Alpha couldn't be her mate. And even though he was, she was sure to be rejected by him. That angry look he was giving her few seconds ago explained that he was not going to show her any mercy. She closed her eyes on the floor there and slept off.

***

Alpha Wayne Knight was beyond angry when he saw Olive. So, she was sent to kill him?

He walked into the kitchen where he found the rest of his men, alongside Cynthia who was the only woman.

He ignored all their looks and opened the fridge, almost yanking the door off. He pulled out a bottle of shifter-made tequila and a shot glass. He filled the glass to the very brim and chugged it down.

All eyes were still on him, seeing how angry he was, no one spoke. They thought he was having a hard time with the fact that The Vrek Cult was truly after him like Cynthia said.

“Did you kill the girl already? You look so agitated,” Cynthia's smug voice rang across to him. He looked at her, scoffed then chugged down another shot of tequila.

“She's alive,” he simply answered… coldly.

Cynthia smiled. By his answer, she knew he was going to give her a slow death. He was going to torture Olive because he seemed agitated and angry. She tried to walk up to him and massage him to calm him down. But he asked a question with a very deadly voice.

“Who. Tortured. Her?”

Cynthia stopped walking and blinked repeatedly.

“I did,” she answered. His face reddened as he looked at her.

“You did that to her?” he asked in a calmer voice than the first question.

“Yes, I did. Did I do a good job?” she smiled at him, thinking he was impressed with her.

He raked his fingers through his messy hair and clenched his jaw.

“You did too good of a job. She looks like a battered piece of bread!” he gritted his teeth angrily. Cynthia flinched at his tone.

“If she did a good job then why are you yelling at her, Alpha?” Jake, his Beta asked. Cynthia made a puppy face.

“Because that girl lying on the bare floor, bloodied and in pain is my fucking mate!!” he barked while pointing out the door.

Everyone in the room was shocked beyond comprehension. Their hearts fell to their feet. Their blood turned lighter and reddened their skins. No one moved, no one talked, no one even tried breathing heavily. To say they were shocked was even an understatement.

Cynthia—she was killed. Yes, she felt like she had just died the very moment he said that. The body standing was just a mere pound of flesh. Her mouth was aghast, her eyes as wide as that of an owl and her breathing, seized.

“What?” her subconscious mind spoke out loud for her. Wayne kept emptying glass upon glass until he began to sway and held the counter for support.

“Shit,” Jake's voice was heard.

“How's that…” one of the men, Terry, wanted to ask how that was possible but he trailed off.

The rest of the men recovered from their shock and looked at Cynthia who was still standing like Lot's wife. They knew how obsessed she was with their Alpha, and she was too possessive of him. She didn't waste a minute to flaunt him before any girl they came across. And they knew she was flaunting him to Olive too. But that same Olive turned out to be Wayne's mate. Irony of life!

“What are you going to do now?” Jake asked a very tipsy Wayne Knight. He ran his fingers into his hair and clutched them hard.

“I don't know. I fucking don't know,” he muttered and was about to take another shot but Jake grabbed it and poured it in the sink. He put the bottle in the fridge and closed it.

“Is she still there? In that room?”

“Yes. I couldn't stand the sight of her,” Wayne answered and closed his eyes, as if she was still before him. The blood flowing down her face hurt him badly. How dare Cynthia?

“Terry, go take her to a room with a bed. Clean her up and find something for her to eat,” Jake ordered. Terry was about to leave when Wayne stood straight.

“No. I'll go clean her up. You go get her some food,” he said and walked out of the room, swaying a little. Terry looked at Jake with questions written all over his face.

“What are you waiting for?” Jake asked him. He looked at the door then back at Jake.

“Are you sure that is really his mate? What if this is just—”

“Terry, how many years have you been with Wayne?” Jake cut him short.

“Roughly five years,” Terry answered.

“And you've seen him sparing his victim, getting drunk for his victim, going to clean up his victim and getting so angry that she was hurt?”

Terry gulped down. Truly, what just happened was very foreign. The Big Bad Alpha wasn't one to have emotions other than hate, anger and pleasure. He didn't have sympathy, empathy, love or kindness towards any other person apart from people on his side. So, for him to spare someone sent to kill him, that was definitely something new.

“Now, go get that girl some food,” Jake added and Terry walked out of the kitchen. There was no food in the house because they had come there to set a trap for Olive. The tequila bottle was the only thing in the fridge and it belonged to Wayne. It was still the early hours of the morning so it wasn't hard to find food outside.

Wayne Knight staggered until he reached the empty room where Olive was kept. He opened the door and steadied himself. He saw her lying on the floor in a ball and surrounded with blood. So, this was his mate. The one created for him… alone.

What if he had let his men kill her immediately last night when she was caught. That was how he would have lost his mate forever. He walked up to her and bent down. Her hair was all over her face. He pushed them all away and stared at her.

She was really a mess. He saw torn skin on her neck and face, and knew it must have been the whip that bounced against those places. He shuddered at the thought of how the rest of her body would actually look like. Gently, like a new baby, he carried her in his arms. She whimpered and winced in pain but didn't wake up from her sleep. He took her to a room, the room he slept last night.

After placing her on the bed, he began to tear off her clothes until it was just her undies. He closed his eyes at the sight of her skin. He had no idea that a person's wounds could affect him this much. He didn't want to look at her like that, but he didn't want any of his men to see her that way either. It would be embarrassing for her to be seen in this state… even though she was tortured in their presence.

Wayne got towels and a bowl of warm water from the bathroom, then began to wipe off her blood. She wasn't healing, making him a tiny bit worried. Some of her injuries kept seeping out new blood. He however, managed to clean her up fully.

He didn't want to see her naked, so her undies and bra were still on. He treated her wounds and rubbed healing balm made in his pack on them. Then he covered her with a blanket and gently removed her panties and unhooked her bra, all the while careful not to touch her skin. He was sure she had injuries there too, but he just didn't want to see her naked.

On a normal day, he wouldn't care if she was the curviest woman in the world. He would have seen her naked and not glanced twice. But today wasn't normal for Wayne Knight. He had found his mate, the woman he ordered to be tortured—the one he wanted to murder badly.

Olive was sleeping soundly and didn't even stir. Her face was still reddened because her blood had not cooled, she needed time to regularize her temperature. He left her there after discarding her torn clothes and undies. He closed the door, walked into the kitchen to wash his hands before heading out. He found his men at the front of the house. His face was in a terrible frown and they all stood straight, knowing he was still in a bad mood.

“Where is Cynthia?” he asked.

“She's in my bathroom,” Jake answered. Wayne's brows furrowed and he looked up as if he could see through the ceiling.

“Jake, go stand by the door of my room. Don't leave there until I return,” he ordered and began to walk down towards his car parked at the driveway.

“Uh, where are you going?” Jake asked.

“To go get some clothes for Olive,” he answered, opened the door of his car and sat in before shutting it.

Jericho, one of his men looked at Wayne and stifled a laugh. Jake shot him a glare and he looked away immediately.

“Okay, Alpha,” Jake responded and walked inside. He had an idea why Wayne had ordered for him to go and stand there. It was for fear of Cynthia doing something bad to her. Everyone knew the relationship between Cynthia and Olive was anything but love.

Alpha Knight drove out and went to buy new clothes for Olive. He didn't know her size but he could guess the one that would fit her. When he arrived, he met Jake at the door of his room.

He gave him an appreciative look and Jake walked away. He opened the door and walked in only to be greeted by the wide, extremely terrified green eyes of his mate.

Chapter 3

Please Don't Torture Me

Olive screamed as she met eyes with Wayne. She was surprised to see him when she had thought she was dead. Didn't he kill her earlier? Or did she have a bad dream?

She shifted in the bed and tried to sit up but felt her arms brushing against the sides of her breasts. It was skin against skin. She looked down through the blanket and her eyes turned into that of an owl again. She was naked!

She clutched the blanket against her chest and sat up, moving as far away from the edge of the bed as possible.

Her injuries were still fresh, but not bloody flesh. She seemed to be healing.

“What—what am I still doing here?” she asked with her face flustered.

“Where were you supposed to be?” Wayne asked with no emotions in his voice. He looked angry and murderous as he stared at her. And Olive—she was scared to death. Her heart began to beat loudly.

“I thought I was…I thought you would…I—”

“Enough of the I's,” Wayne barked and walked fully inside the room. He dumped the bags on the bed and walked to the wardrobe.

“Get dressed, we're leaving in an hour,” he said and pulled open the door of the wardrobe. He brought out a big black backpack and closed the door.

“Where are you taking me?” Olive's shy voice reached his ears. He could sense her fear. She was terrified that he would hurt her badly.

“Somewhere you might wish you hadn't met me because…” he trailed off because he wasn't supposed to answer that question. And the answer his mouth was procuring was definitely not something he should say. He gulped angrily, with his brows still at an angle.

He hung his bag and walked to the door. He looked back at her and froze when he saw tears streaming down her face. She was wiping them off but they fell immediately she wiped them. Her eyes looked up at him and her body began to shake with sobs.

“Please, Alpha Knight, don't torture me. I swear I didn't want to come. They made me do it. I don't know why and I have no hand in this. I shouldn't die like this,” she burst into sobs and both her hands went up to her face to shield her tears.

Her blanket fell from her chest, exposing her breasts and Wayne was struck by a force he had no idea could affect him. Her breasts were full and big, smooth and looked like the softest flesh God had ever created. As she shook with cries, they moved up and down and it aroused him. He could feel the tender matebond drag him towards her.

How would those breasts feel against his skin? The thought that they were made for him alone soothed him.

He peeled his eyes away from her twin peaks and looked at her face. He clenched his jaw hard.

“Get dressed. We live in an hour,” he said, totally ignoring her earlier pleas.

He walked out of the room, banging the door behind him. He clenched his fists as he stood behind the door. With what he just heard from her, Olive was nothing but a toy in the hands of The Vrek Cult. There was something more to why they had sent Olive. They knew well that she wouldn't be able to do it, so they must have really wanted her dead. But why?

He looked back at the door and heaved a silent sigh. Then he walked away, into the living room where the rest of his men were with their bags, sitting down and not talking.

“She's awake already so we're leaving soon,” he announced and slumped into a sofa.

“You are really taking her to Balendin?” Crusoe, one of his men asked. Wayne closed his eyes without answering him.

Balendin mostly called Balendin Pack was where he was Alpha. It was a large territory, like a state with cities, towns and villages. It was a hidden pack, just like most packs around the country. Balendin Pack was very balanced economically and had one of the best ammunition plus manpower. They hardly lost wars.

“Alpha Knight, she's not out yet. Should I put the food in the microwave?” Terry asked after a long while of silence.

Wayne opened his eyes and looked towards the door.

“Why isn't she out yet?” he asked no one in particular as he got on his feet and walked to the door. He walked through the hallway and entered the room only to see her still on the bed, crying.

“What the hell are you still doing here? I thought I told you to get dressed!” Wayne barked at her and she flinched, almost tumbling over. Olive had not realized that she had been staying still and crying for so long. She was reminiscing her life with her family, and how she would never have that life again.

She stared up at the angry looking Alpha and she shuddered.

“I'm-I'm sor-ry,” she stuttered as her body shook with fear. Her heart calmed a bit when she noticed that Wayne's angry gaze on her softened greatly. Or was it her imagination? And why was her wolf looking at him with so much desire? What in the world was wrong with that wolf? Looking at the Big Bad Alpha with lustful eyes? Crazy!

“Get up,” he said in a voice that sounded like silk, calm and devoid of the usual rage and terror that laced his every word.

“I'm sorry,” she apologized again and tried to step down from the bed. Her body was very exposed so Wayne turned around for her to arrange herself. She did and stood upright, with the blanket around her.

“You done?” he asked.

“Yes,” she whispered. He turned around and looked at her for a few seconds then—

“Let's go to the bathroom… I'll bath you,” he said and Olive's jaw dropped open.

What?

Chapter 4

Fragile, Weak And Unworthy Of Him

“S-s-sir?” she stuttered and her feet got rooted to the ground, unable to move.

“You heard me,” he stated and walked ahead to the bathroom door. Olive's heart thudded loudly. She thought he wanted to rape her too. No way in hell was she going to be in a bathroom with a man having no conscience. She couldn't bear any more torture.

“I'll get ready!” she yelled and ran swiftly into the bathroom, shutting the door and leaving a surprised Alpha behind. She slide down the wooden door and sat on the floor with a deep sigh. Her life was turning upside down. Wait—it had always been upside down.

She looked up at the shower and got on her feet. She showered because she had no other option. There was no window in the bathroom to escape through.

It was after she finished showering that she realized she had now healed. No single injury, though she still felt weak and fragile. Her skin was back to normal...with all the old scars that would never leave her.

“How did I heal so fast in a few minutes?” she asked herself, knowing she still had injuries awhile ago.

Olive grabbed a towel and walked out of the bathroom, happy that the Alpha was out of sight. She ransacked the bags he brought and picked a pair of black jean pants, a white strap shirt and a black jacket. She wore the convass and marveled that it fit her perfectly.

Olive walked through the door, still scared but determined to face whatever was coming at her. She'll still fight her way out, if possible. She heard voices coming from the kitchen and Alpha Knight's strong scent was coming from the living room. So, she chose the kitchen to avoid seeing him.

Immediately she stood by the open kitchen door, every one of them stopped talking and stared at her. She stared back, not knowing what to say or do.

Terry cleared his throat and they all looked away from her, although still stealing glances.

“I...Alpha Knight said we were leaving in an hour,” she managed to say.

“Yes. Come and have something to eat,” Jake said to her. He drew a chair from the table, pointed her to it and began to arrange food for her. Olive was surprised.

“Eat this,” he said. She looked at the delicious looking pasta with tomato sauce, then looked back at him.

“I...me?” she stuttered with wide eyes.

“Yeah, you,” Jericho, the youngest looking, answered with crossed arms.

They all had their eyes fixed on her, wondering how she turned out to be their Alpha's mate. She looked fragile, weak and unworthy of him. If it were up to them, they'd advice him to reject her or she would be his downfall.

Olive could interpret the look in their eyes, that they really hated her. She looked at the food and at their fiery, unquestionable eyes. Slowly, she sat down and stared at the dish. She sniffed it and couldn't find anything with a weird smell. But still, she couldn't help asking.

“Is it...is it poisoned?” she questioned while still staring down.

She heard a man scoff and she looked up to see one of them walking away angrily. That was Terry who had gone to get the food himself.

“You can skip it if you like. Just know The BBA ordered for you to be fed before we head to Balendin with you,” Jake explained plainly.

“You are taking me to Balendin Pack?” Olive's heart skittered with fear. She was dead meat if she entered his pack.

“You need a lot of energy when you get there so eat up,” Alpha Knight's voice rang through the kitchen and they all looked at the door where he was standing.

Olive's nostrils savored his scent, that rainy scent she loved so much. The moon goddess had blessed him with it.. Her heart melted, her fear disappeared. She was fine. She was with her mate.

Her eyes instantly shot wide-open. Did she just refer to him as her mate again? What was wrong with her?

She mentally slapped herself and began to eat immediately.

“Eating too slow. Speed up,” Terry nagged as he walked back in and hit the table. Jake shot him a glare because Alpha Knight was in the room. Wayne himself gave him a questioning look because that seemed absurd.

Olive, with spaghetti in her mouth spoke, “Nothing... just savoring my last meal.”

She heard muffled laughters and looked up to see everyone looking at her like she was a clown.

“Jake, come with me,” Alpha Knight ordered and left the room after staring at his pathetic mate. Jake met with him outside the house.

“Yeah?” he asked.

Wayne's fingers ran through his hair desperately.

“She doesn't realize?” he asked.

“Realize what?”

“That I'm... that I'm her mate?”

Jake looked at his Alpha and marveled at how disheveled he suddenly looked. He last saw that look when they were tackling a very important issue with the president of the country and he (the president) was proving stubborn. But right now, Wayne had that look because of... a girl?

“What makes you think that?” Jake asked.

“She's... she's scared—terrified of me. She still thinks we're gonna hurt her. She thinks I'm gonna hurt her.”

“She'll come around. She's been through a lot here. Do you think she'd forget that so easily?”

Silence reigned for a few minutes before the Alpha sighed.

“All right. I'll give her time then,” Wayne answered and began to walk back inside.

“May I ask?” Jake called back his attention.

Wayne looked back and raised a brow.

“What are your plans when we reach Balendin?”

Wayne knew he was referring to the fact that Olive was going with them. He shrugged.

“Don't know. What matters is I'm returning with my mate,” he answered and walked back inside.

When he reached the kitchen, he met a total surprise. His men were sprawled on the floor, table, and counter as if someone threw them off like old socks. There was sauce, pasta and sharp red marks on their faces. Pieces of broken plates lay all around them and Jericho even had his hand pinned with a fork, blood dripping down his palm. The Big Bad Alpha's mate was nowhere to be found.

Alpha Knight looked around, dumbfounded at the sudden state of his men, but the first words to proceed from his lips were, “Where's Olive?”

Chapter 5

Beating Up Cynthia

None of the Alpha's men were in a sensible state to answer so he began to sniff the air to get her scent. It however, was all over the place and it was hard to decern where it was headed, except if he headed out himself and sniffed the corridor. As he turned back, his eyes met with a horror struck Jake who had just arrived at the scene.

“She did this?” was what came out of his mouth. He couldn't believe Olive could take down three men. And three men who were personal bodyguards of The Big Bad Alpha.

Wayne didn't even spare his Beta a look as he dashed out through the door. He needed to find Olive. She shouldn't escape from him... no one did.

As he sniffed the air and followed her scent, he began to hear grunts, winces, and hits. He sped up and found Olive beating the living daylights out of Cynthia at the garden.

Cynthia was trying to fight back and succeeded in landing a few blows on Olive, but she sustained more blows. Her face was red, and her lip was bursted. Olive held her hair and twisted the whole of it badly, making Cynthia scream and try to kick her from the back. But Olive dogded to the right, twisting the hair more and landing a terrible knee-blow on Cynthia's stomach. This made a loud howl erupt from her, with her bending to the ground.

“Olive!” Wayne yelled.

Her eyes widened as his scent filled her whole body and made her stand still. Cynthia was on the ground at her feet while she stood face to face with the Alpha, just a few feet away from him. Fear filled her mind again as she stared at Wayne Knight. She had beaten his men, then tried to escape. And on the way, she had bumped into Cynthia and picked a fight with her.

Right now, she had just been caught by him while she was beating up his mate.

His mate... why did that not sound right to her? Why was she getting this rage because she referred to Cynthia as his mate? Her wolf growled in anger at her, and the sound was audible outside. She shut her mouth immediately.

Wayne's lips tugged into a proud smile as he looked at her, but Olive misunderstood it for an intimidating one. Immediately, her fists curled into a ball and without warning, she attacked The Big Bad Alpha.

The attack came as a surprise for Wayne, but it didn't take him thirty seconds to lock her hands behind her and pull her hair backwards painfully which he instantly regretted immediately she winced.

“What do you think you're doing?” he asked in a low intimidating whisper just behind her ear. She couldn't see him behind her, so she tried to kick his legs. He chuckled and with one pinch to the right spot, Olive was rendered unconscious. He let her fall to the ground softly.

Cynthia sniffed and struggled to get on her feet. She was in pain. Her whole body and scalped ached. Olive was always a strong wolf, one she knew she could never beat in a fist fight. That was why she always tried to bring her down with her authority or father's authority.

Cynthia looked at Olive on the ground, then up at Alpha Knight with pathetic eyes. She sniffed again and let the tears fall.

“Wayne,” she cried. He breathed out as he stared at her. She used to be very attractive to him, and as of yesterday, all he wanted to do when he saw her was to tie her to his bed and derive pleasure. But right now? He was disgusted at the sight of her, talk more of getting her laid.

“Alpha,” Cynthia called again. She began to move closer to him while feigning pain as she walked.

“Get your things ready, you're going back to The Vrek Cult. Let them know that Olive would be coming with me. She's my mate,” he said with a bit of hostility in his voice.

Cynthia's heart fell again. She had cried and hated Olive for hours in Jake's bathroom after hearing she was his mate. But she made herself believe that Wayne had something for her, so he wouldn't accept Olive. And that he would keep her instead. But what was he saying now?

“Wayne, what about me?”

Wayne raised a brow questioningly.

“I... I thought you and I... we had something,” she mumbled. Wayne sighed. He wouldn't deny that they had something, something sexual. Other than that, nothing else.

He had had lust over Cynthia's body. But, what was he going to use her body for when the moon goddess had blessed him with a mate? He had heard how pleasurable beyond expression it was to mate with one's mate. And how ecstatic it was to mark her while in action. He wanted that with Olive. He wanted to feel the love of a mate. He wanted to give Olive the feel of the love of a mate.

He raked his hands through his hair at the thoughts he was having. That was unlike him. Love... weird word.

Cynthia had moved closer to him, crossed Olive's body and was going to hug him. He jerked backwards, frightening and surprising her.

“Don't. Don't ever do that,” he ordered with a stern voice. He looked at his mate's body and crouched down, then he picked her up and walked away without another word to Cynthia.

Jake was still in the kitchen, helping his men up when Alpha Knight was seen walking past the kitchen door.

Terry gritted his teeth as he saw how he handled Olive with care. He was hating on her already. Jake sighed and continued what he was doing.

“We have to get on the road soon. Balendin is a long way from here,” he told the men who were still trying to glare at the Olive their Alpha was carrying away.

”Bitch,” he heard Jericho cuss from a corner while a slash against his face slowly healed.
