Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Rue

My fingers curled around the door frame as my little head peeked to look at the huge man talking to mother and father. He was tall and surpassed my father by more than a head foot.

I knew it was very unlovely for me to be eavesdropping on their conversation. But I was very much intrigued.

Mother was known for her skillful making of healing potions and other witchcraft expertise. I was very certain that these strangers were here for either of them.

"Ester, please! My son is dying! I cannot go another day to see him suffer." The woman cried beside the tall man. Her flaxen hair flowed down her back in silky waves. Her hair was very beautiful.

Mother was usually cool and collected but today I noted that she seemed a bit skittish. Father was also not in the slightest relaxed.

"King Zachary, my wife is trying her very best to see that your son is healed. Please give her a few more days. The prince's sickness is not easy to cure." Father begged.

King?

My mouth formed an 'o'. He must be the werewolf king father and mother had been yapping about earlier.

Now I knew why my parents were uneasy. The man screamed power and the woman wasn't far behind. The man named Zachary, his hair the shade of night, dark and hunting. His broad back was powerful. The man and the woman were both cloaked in red, the color of blood with golden drawings of wolves imprinted into the fabric. The fabric looked worth more than what mother and father make in a month.

"Isabela, my potions have never failed me. I will promise you this. I will cure your son of this ugly sickness that has plagued him." Mother said to the woman, her voice was sincere though she looked the slightest bit afraid to speak.

"You ought to quicken this up, Ester. My son cannot die." The woman named Isabela cried. "He is my only child, I cannot lose him."

Mother sighed in sadness and walked over to her table of potions. She grabbed one of the tiny bottles and examined the crystal blue liquid.

She shook it slightly and the liquid turned purple. She ambled back to the strangers, her form very much nervous.

"Take this potion and give it to him every two days. It will help him regain his strength until the potion is ready. I am only missing but one ingredient." Mother urged and pushed the potion into Isabel's hands.

Mother's silver eyes turn in utter pity. "I am sorry that I cannot do more at this moment."

"We will return on the night of the full moon. By then I expect the potion to be ready." The King named Zachary said with authority. His power made me shake in my little boots. Then they turned to leave.

Mother nodded whilst father looked doubtful. The full moon was just two days away.

My eyes widened as my little feet carried me away from the door. I knew that eavesdropping was not a pretty trait. Father would be unpleased if he knew.

I watched as the two strangers left. Their footsteps faded. If they may have noticed me then they certainly didn't show it. Their son was sick. Was this why Mother had been very frantic with her latest potion?

"Rue, darling come here this instant." Mother's voice called out. I cringe inwardly for I knew father had probably taken my scent. He was a werewolf after all.

My head bowed and I nervously twisted my hands in front of me as I entered the room. "Look up darling before you walk into another table like the last time." Mother said with a hint of humor.

I did as I was told and strutted over to them. "Oh darling, have we not warned you of eavesdropping on our conversations?" Mother questioned, fingers brushing through my unnatural icy-white hair. My hair color was rare and not the same as my mother's or father's.

I pouted and turned my head to the side. "I was only intrigued..."

"Rue, you could've gotten yourself killed today. These guests are not some measly people, they are powerful and not to be taken lightly. What if something had gone wrong?" Father scowled.

"It was just a peek, father, nothing more." I defended. "And nothing would have gone wrong for I am too beautiful for anyone to do harm." I turned to him and huffed.

Mother laughed lightly while Father's scowl deepened. "Rue, you must understand that your beauty will not save you from werewolves. You are a hybrid. These people do not like hybrids."

Mating with a witch who was considered a werewolf's enemy was frowned upon. Even though Mother created healing potions for werewolves they had still not accepted her as one of their own.

The only reason they had let such an atrocious thing happen was because Father was a good Beta. He would do anything for his kind. It was why the King had granted him his wish to mate with a witch. On one condition, we were to live far away from the pack.

"It’s none of my business that they hate me. They are only jealous because I am far more beautiful than they are." I shrugged.

Mother smiled and hugged me." Oh my darling. Yes, you are more beautiful than any girl I’ve met and do not let anyone tell you different." She whispered kissing my cheek lightly. “We witches do not ever think that we are less than others. We simply think we are beautiful and more powerful.”

"Ester, perhaps I should go to town to seek the last ingredient you are missing," Father scratched the back of his head in thought. His hair was the color of dried wheat. His eyes were the color of the ocean when the sky was clear.

Mother’s red hair bobbed as she nodded furiously. "Yes, you should. I cannot fail the king and queen. The full moon is just in two days, the werewolves will be out to hunt. If I cannot make this potion before then, I will be their prey…"

I gazed up at my mother, worry tightening my chest. I must help her. Perhaps I could find the last ingredient…

Chapter 2

Ares

"Prince Ares, you cannot come out of bed. You are too weak." Madame Lucia protested while putting me on the soft mattress.

I glared at her in defiance as much as I could. "Lucia, tonight is the full moon. What remains of my wolf is seeking to emerge. My wolf is restless. Please, Lucia. I need to feel the earth one last time before I die."

Her azure eyes narrowed with pity. "Nonsense! You will not die! King Zachary and Queen Isabela are seeking a cure for you."

My face was saddened. I was on the brink of death... I could feel the burn of the sickness crawling through my entire body, plaguing me. I was certain they could smell it too. Wolf's senses were heightened. Death clung to my room with a putrid scent.

It was not long until my soul would rest beneath the earth. I just wanted one last time to feel the dirt and leaves beneath my bare feet. All I wanted was to feel the world…

Lucia sighed, squeezing my hands. "I heard a white witch is creating a healing potion for you. If it is who I think, then you have nothing to worry about for she is the best witch in the world."

I clenched my eyes tight and a shooting pain sliced through my abdomen. "I do not want to talk about this anymore, Lucia. I want to be left alone." I grumbled with a pained gasp.

Beaded sweat coated my skin, Lucia dabbed it with a cloth, her face pinched in worry. "Are you alright with staying by yourself?"

"I'm fine Lucia, I'm not dying yet." I joked with a faint smile though it did not reach my eyes. She did not comment on my blatant lie.

"Do you need anything? Perhaps something to eat to regain your strength?" She asked hopefully, brushing the hair on my forehead. Lucia had been caring for me since I was a wee babe. It was cruel to make her see me die as well.

I nodded, coughing. "Aye, I would love it if you made that special mushroom soup."

Her brows furrowed before she nodded hard. I knew why she hesitated to make the soup. It took at the very least an entire hour to be cooked properly.

And this was exactly why I opted to make her cook it. An hour would be enough for me to escape this coffin-like room that mocked me of my incoming death.

Zefer

"The toxin you have been giving Ares is working. The child is growing weaker each day. It is now time when he drops dead." I smirked, running my hands through a silky mass of dark hair.

Mericel looked at me through thick lashes, her dark eyes swirling with wickedness. Her dark hair sprawled against my bare sweaty chest.

We had only just finished our lovemaking and I wanted more. This woman was about to give me everything I have ever wanted.

The crown.

"Not so fast, my sweet." She whispered, looking at my chest as she traced my skin. Her lashes fluttered as she looked at me beneath them. "My crows have informed me of a little detour on our plans. Your brother Zachary and Isabela are seeking a cure."

Rage filled my form. Of course they would, that little brat was to be the next king.

But the crown is mine. A growl rumbles in my chest, my wolf ready to emerge.

Mericel smirked, her red-tainted lips splitting to reveal white teeth. "Now calm down. Do you forget who I am? My dark magic is not easily cured. "

My wolf eased but I was still not fully relaxed.

She sighed and sat up, the sheet falling and revealing her bare breast. She was beautiful but she was only here to appease my lust and wants.

"But I am afraid that they have gone to one of the witches in my coven. This one is fairly powerful with knowledge of healing potions. She is the best, Ester. I am certain she will find a way to cure the boy. It is only time until she finds out that the dark magic is mine."

I narrowed my eyes in anger. "What is it you suggest we do?"

Her lips curled into a cruel smile. "We must kill her and her mate. If we do not kill him, he will not rest until he hunts us down. Beta Michael is your brother's ally, he will give Zachary his word of what has happened if we do not take care of Beta Michael first."

At this moment, a sudden push was felt through my mind-link to the pack. A powerful presence.

Zachary.

My eyes turned foggy as I awaited what that bastard would want to say.

Zefer, you are needed atonce. The vampires have breached our territory. They are out for blood.

Zachary, I will come to you when I am done. I am simply looking for more of that tonic for little Ares.

Alright brother, please hasten.

The mind-link cut off and my vision was clear again. Mericel looked at me with a knowing look. "Zachary?"

I nodded, pulling her naked flesh to me. "Aye. The vampires have breached the territory. He could die for all I care, this way he wouldn't die by my hand." I smirked and rolled her beneath me to have my wicked way with her.

The vampires should slaughter them all.

After a while.

Blood smeared beneath my feet as I ambled through the woods. Ah, the stench of vampires. From what I could smell, there were more dead vampires than werewolves.

The war must be over. There weren't any signs or sounds of fighting. My naked body entered the castle and a frantic maid tossed a dark silk robe at my hands. Her cheeks were crimson as she darted away from me.

Women. They act all innocent but are nothing but whores.

I did not care that I was naked, I had only just shifted back to my human form. But I knew Zachary would have my head if he saw me prancing around naked. His mate would not resist. I smirked.

I threw the robe around my shoulders and secured it around my huge powerful form. I had made sure to wash myself off the scent of a witch. Dark witches tend to carry a scent of death around them.

"You. Where is my brother?" I questioned one of the maids. They were all werewolves, low ranking and not to be taken seriously. Whores. They were only good for when I needed a bitch to submit in bed.

Her wide-doe eyes darted away from me in what I presume was nerves. "Lord Zefer." She bowed her head and tilted it aside to show submission. "King Zachary is in the dungeon with one of the vampires."

I nodded and sauntered over to the towering oak wooden doors. If the bitch had taken too long in answering me, I would have opted to sink my claws into her pretty neck and tear it apart. I detested waiting.

"You are late," Zachary growled, his blue eyes turning red.

Your wolf was angry. Calm down, you fucking pup. Of course, I refrained from saying this out loud. I rolled my eyes sauntering over to Zachary.

The rancid vampire seated on the chair, bounded by chains. "Relax brother, you did fairly well without me. Did you not?" I asked sarcastically.

His eyes shifted back to their original color, blue. "This is true, but I would have wanted you to fight alongside us. Several wolves are dead."

I resisted the urge to lash out my annoyance. Fight alongside him? I would rather cut off my throat. He was not fit to be my king.

"I know, brother, I was simply looking for more tonic for Ares. I could not see him suffer another day." I lied through my teeth. Aye, I did find a tonic, but it is not for healing.

Mericel had used some of her dark magic to cloak the scent of poison. So even with our strongest sense of smell, we would not notice the bitter scent of toxins.

"I do not worry anymore. Isabela and I have found a white witch to cure him of this disease. Ester. She is Beta Michael's mate." He responded. "I should have asked her sooner, if only I had known the sickness would have gotten worse.

I felt the dull pressure of my canines forcing out. I turned away from him, my eyes flashing in vexation. "Brother, we do not compromise with a witch. We cannot trust that she will cure him."

I proceeded to the table with different tools for torture. I would force my temper out on that putrid vampire. My large hands circled around the handle of the knife, careful not to touch the silver.

"Aye, what you say is true but Isabela trusts the witch and I trust Michael. He has not failed me once." Zachary declared.

My wolf wanted to lash out and kill him. I was tired of hearing his idiocy. This was why he was not fit to rule. He made the pack weak, just like him and his damn son.

The vampire spat out blood, waking up from his little nap. He should rather have stayed in his slumber for what awaited him was pure torture. He would very much wish for a quick death soon.

"Very well, brother, I wish for the witch to find the cure for him soon. Ares deserves it." I uttered, walking up to the vampire.

Yes, Ares deserves death. He will die when the moon reaches its peak in two days.

Chapter 3

Rue

"Rue! Do not stray too far, remember tonight is the full moon. The wolves will be out, do not forget they hate half-breeds, especially witches even though you are only a half." Mother warned as she mixed the liquid in the cauldron with a green aura before her.

Her hands were frantic as she mixed up the herbs. Her red hair was set in a bun with several loose tendrils plastering on her forehead. I hated to see her this busy so I must find the last ingredient for her as soon as possible.

I rolled my eyes in irritation. "Aye, mother I know of the dangers lurking in the woods. You seem to forget that even though I am only eight, I can still hold up someone twice my weight. "

Mother did not know this yet but I had been practicing spells since I was seven. I was well educated in everything considering witchcraft. I also knew how to make potions and use the deadliest ones when necessary.

She nodded, sweeping the back of her hand against her sweaty forehead. "Very well then, you can go ahead. But be back before sunset. Your father will be back then and he will not be pleased to know that you have gone out while he was away. You know how protective he is." She laughed while throwing some white dust in the cauldron. It emitted the sound of dried leaves being licked by fire.

I nodded. "I will be back before Father even knows I was out," I promised while putting in some powerful potions inside my satchel. They were for fear that I would run into vicious wolves on the way or worse, rogues.

I had been treading through the woods for what felt like hours. I was careful to not let any dirt ruin my pretty green dress. I hated to be a dirty girl. Aye, I was blessed and beautiful, there was no denying it.

On the way, I had collected enough herbs to make healing and toxic potions. I had a tendency to experiment with some special herbs. I was always curious as to what I could create, whether it was toxic or healing.

Being a half-wolf helped me with my senses. I was always amazed at how I could smell a plant that was toxic five minutes away. I could also hear the running of wild animals or the cry of crows high above my head louder than a normal witch or werewolf.

The sound of running water was louder than the scampering animals in the forest. The trees were lusher and greener than those close to my home. I must've entered another territory. I was far from home, this much I could tell.

It doesn't matter, no one will dare lay a finger on me. If they do and ruin my dress, I'll cast a spell to melt their eyes.

I ambled on, intrigued to know where the sound of rushing water was coming from. My booted feet stepped on curled-up brown leaves half embedded into the damp earth.

I heard the crisp snap of dry twigs underneath my boots as I followed the sound of running water. It was calming and there must be something else. I did not know what exactly it was, but I felt the need to find it.

I could see it now through the dense trees. A waterfall! One so beautiful that it couldn't possibly be real. But as I stepped towards it, and dipped my fingers into the cool clear water, I knew it was real.

I felt a surreal power, tickling my fingertips and running up my arm. This water was not normal. Aye, it was real, but it was magical! I looked at my reflection in the water, watching my violet turn lighter than usual. My icy blonde hair swept back.

My lips parted when what resembled glowing tiny orbs circled around the tips of my fingers that were in the water. They were white at first but later it changed into something golden.

The gold orbs emerged together and what looked like a glowing gold flower floated to the surface. It was beautiful and I could feel its power. I had never felt such magic before.

It felt like my hands had a mind of its own because my fingers automatically dug into my satchel and pulled out an empty potion bottle. The flower was the size of a fingernail, tiny, and could easily fit inside the bottle.

Somehow, I knew I was supposed to take it. Without much thought, I dipped the bottle into the water and captured the flower along with the water. Whatever it was, I knew it was something out of this world.

I pushed the cork into the bottle to seal it and lifted it to stare at the glowing gold flower. It looked like a lotus of some sort but it definitely was not just that. I stood up and pushed the bottle into my satchel. As I had done so the most shocking thing happened.

What was once a waterfall was now a dry patch of grass.

I stood frozen, staring at the patch of dry grass where the waterfall had been moments before. My heart raced—where had it gone?

Then, a rustle in the trees snapped me out of my daze. I turned quickly, sensing something was wrong.

The full moon!

But it was too late for me to realize that the full moon hung above, casting its cold light through the dense trees, turning the forest into a shadowed maze. A strange stillness filled the air, broken only by the distant rustling of leaves.

Mother’s warning echoed in her mind: The wolves will be out tonight. Do not stray too far... they hate half-breeds, especially witches. The weight of the words pressed on my chest, making every crack of twigs, and every whisper of wind feel like a threat.

Then, I heard it with my wolf’s senses.

A whisper-like cry tore through the silence—pain-filled, desperate. A boy’s voice. My heart stopped, a chill running down my spine. Was it a trap? Were the wolves already closing in on me?

But even as fear gripped me, something inside me stirred—an urge, a need to help the boy. I couldn’t just turn away.

I stepped forward, my pulse racing, knowing full well I was walking straight into danger.

Chapter 4

Rue

Death. The scent clung to the air. It was putrid and my heightened senses made it all the worse. I amble through the woods finding myself following the scent of death.

I didn't know why but I felt a unmistakable pull. The sound of the leaves dancing on the branches as the breeze brush pass relaxed me all the more. It was like a continuous chant pulling me in further.

The earth beneath my boots was not damp anymore and the trail I followed was cleared of crazy roots that usually peeked out from the dirt.

The more I walked the more the scent of death got stronger and the more I got further away from home.

I could only hope that no wolves could take the scent of me, they would surely not be happy to know a hybrid was lurking inside their territory.

Without knowing my mouth parts to start speaking in tongues. My scent masked instantly. I had learned quite a few spells and mastered the art of masking one's scent.

My violet eyes danced around the area searching for the scent that would make anyone vomit but it only seemed to intrigue me.

"Ouch." It is a faint whisper barely loud enough to hear. A boy, the deeper voice was certainly not one of a girls.

I snap my head to where the sound came from, noting that there was a power along with the scent of death. I stroll along the path, keeping my satchel close to me.

I didn't know why I was so intrigued. The trees soon separated until the clear view of a meadow was in its place. Wild flowers, purple and pink scattered around peeking through the tall grass. It was beautiful aye.

But what caught my attention was not the beautiful flowers, it was a boy. Seated in the middle of the meadow, his head bent as he examined is knee.

His back was faced to me, but from where I stood peering at him, I could clearly see that his health was not the best. His black hair messy and matted and as I got closer the strong scent of death filled my nostrils.

I wanted to turn around and leave him be, I had never converse with anyone other than my parents. I was not accustomed to mingling with strangers especially boys. They always managed to play in dirt and anything ugly. I hated ugly.

Yet that boy had a certain pull to him. That I wanted to find out. What was I suppose to say? I was uncertain how to make him know of my presence.

The boy was surely a wolf, the scent was still there even though he was dying. I could still feel his power. He must be of high rank.

"You are dying." I mumbled as I halt behind the boy. I see him visibly stiffen and with little strength rise. He turns to me, his deep blue eyes are the first thing I notice.

He looked to be a little older than I, judging by his height. But then again everyone towerd over me. I was tiny for an eight year old.

I prayed I'd grow up to be taller. Most witches are pretty short in their youth and grow taller when puberty hits.

His eyes narrow. "You are unfamiliar. You do not belong to the midnight park."

I do not hear any hostility just pure curiosity in his weak voice. I smile. "Good, at least you are still aware for a dying wolf."

My violet eyes scan over his very thin bony frame. He did not remain long. "You do not remain long until you perish wolf." I tell him and looked at his injured knee.

The cut was not fatal but it looked irritated. Usually wolves are able to heal up their wounds in less than a minute but since his wolf is weak he cannot.

"I can heal that if you want." I pointed to his injured knee. His blue eyes falls to his knees.

"Pray tell how will you be able to heal this wound? I'm also curious as to how none of the patrolling wolves had detected you?" He questions lifting his gaze to mine. He coughs, pressed his palm to his mouth.

When he retracts the palm there is visibly blood. I use my senses and I am confused by the dark magic that is strongly mixed into his crimson blood.

Pure blooded wolves will not detect the dark magic neither will a white witch like my mother. Dark witches have a special power to mask their magic when used.

It was only because I was part witch and wolf I could sense the lingering bitter scent. Their poisons were very difficult to cure.

"You have been poisoned wolf. Sit down let me heal your knee before it gets an infection." I told and watch as he weakly follows my instructions.

He looks up at me and squints from the sunlight striking his eyes. "You have not answered my question." He coughs. "I had an inkling that I was being poisoned." He grumbles.

I kneel down beside his injured leg and opened my satchel. "I am a witch wolf, even at my age I am well educated in the making of healing potions."

Perhaps it is better I not tell him about being part wolf.

He raises his brows and coughs. "Witches are not welcomed in the wolves territory. If another wolf had found you here you would have been dead."

"Aye I know of the risk of coming here. But perhaps it was for a reason." I mumbled.

The dirt dirtied my knees yet I could not seem to be mad. I search through my satchel and carefully dumped the bottles of potions on the grass beside his foot.

"I am surprised you are trusting me to heal your wound. Now knowing that I am a witch you should be calling your pack to execute me." I mumbled scanning the many potion bottles scattered on the grass.

The one where I found in the magical place glows and my brows furrowed. I still not have a single clue as what it was or what to use it for. All I knew was that it was of great importance.

The wolf notices my line of vision and grows curious. "What is this one? It glows does it not? I am not sure if it my sickness that has me hallucinating. " He tries to laugh but it comes out like a dry cough that I sensed hurt his chest.

I nodded to answer his question and grasp the purple potion beside it. " Aye it is glowing, you are not hallucinating." I examine the potion then gave it firm shake. It quickly turns green while I chant in tongues.

The wolf's eyes widen in startlement. I smile. "This will burn a tad bit." I warned him.

I remove the cork and directed the opening above his injury. "How old are you little witch?" The wolf questions.

I raise my eyes to meet his while the liquid seeps out of the bottle to fall onto his injury. He grits his teeth, clenches his eyes tight and grunts. "I am eight." I informed him.

He opens his eyes and his blue eyes lock into mine in surprise. "You are only eight yet you talk as if you are older?"

"I am very advanced for my years wolf. I am after all a witch. How old are you?" I looked down at his injury smiling when the deep cut quickly closes. What remains was smooth skin that was not scarred.

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Rue

"I am twelve." He answers and touches the knee that was injured a few seconds ago. His finger trembles showing his weakness. "Thank you for healing me."

He then lifts his gaze to mine and looks me over in curiosity. "Why can I not take your scent? Even if you are a witch I should be able to."

"Ease your mind wolf. I have masked my scent. " I told him then felt a sudden shift of power crackling through the air. I do not know if the boy noticed. My eyes quickly turn to the potion bottle with the glowing flower.

I am surprised to see it is floating a few inches above the ground. I am mesmerized and feel a sudden pull. A voice taps into my head. It is not alarming and not one I would recognize as my wolf.

Father had told me when I reach the age of eleven I would be able to tap into my wolf's side and communicate. So for sure it was not my wolf, it is impossible, I am only but eight.

'Give him the potion. Let him drink it.'

The voice is a whisper. The soft feminine voice should scare me yet I felt soothed.I cannot hear anything but that voice. Everything else fades around me as the voice pulls me in further.

Unknowingly my fingers clutch the bottle and I remove the cork. The scent is very different when I had first taken it. At first it scent was not strong enough to be detected but now it reeked of copper. Odd, yet it was a pleasant smell.

I move my eyes away from the glowing bottle and peered at a very shocked and slightly scared boy. His blue eyes dotted with fascination. "Drink this." I told him very firmly.

Somehow I trusted the voice and somehow the wolf trusted me. With little hesitation he opens his mouth as I poured the now gold liquid into his mouth. He gulps it while staring at me with what I noted was trust.

The bottle was now empty so I retract my hands, placing it on the grass. "Why do you trust me wolf?" I voiced out my curiosity. The voice in my head fades into nothing but quietness inside my head.

He shrugs his bony shoulders. "To be honest with you, I do not know. We are enemies but yet I do not feel resentment towards you."

I nod and gasp when his eyes turns wide with shock then he bends over in pain, clutching his stomach. "What is wrong?" I asked frantically.

He gasp for air. "My entire body is on fire." He cries out. I look down at the healing potions I layed down on the grass.

My violet eyes scan them over to see if they could ease his pain. But I am afraid I do not even know how to stop something I had caused. Perhaps I shouldn't have given him something to drink that I did not know what it was.

I scoot closer to him and place my palm atop his bony shoulder. "Lay down on your back. It will ease the pain a bit." I said softly.

He said that he trusted me even though we were enemies. Now I have given him something I do not know myself and it is causing him pain. I will right this.

He grunts slowly falling on to his back. His palms still clutched his stomach as he peered at the clear sky. It was already late in the afternoon and I should be on my way before the moon is high above the sky.

Yet I stay here with this wolf. I couldn't help but feel that whatever magical potion that was in the bottle led me to him. I only hope that it was not something to kill him.

"Does it still hurt?" I asked in worry as I peered at his small form. He was really bony, face pale of any blood, sweat glistening his ashen flesh. Yet his blue eyes were still lively. He was a fighter Aye.

He nods not able to speak as he arches his back off the ground in pain. I look him over and use my heightened senses to see if anything was amiss in his body. I am stunned to smell the dark magic fading. His wolf was also getting stronger. The toxin was being removed.

I stare at him in shock. He was healing. His blue eyes found mine, pain etched into them like deep blue swirls of agony. "What is it?" He gasped out and screamed aloud.

I looked around frantically afraid another wolf had heard him. If they saw me like this beside him, they would automatically think I was killing him. And I would be dead before I could explain. Death is not an option for my beautiful self.

I turn back to stare at him and watch as he shivers in pain. "Do not fear wolf. You are healing, death is fading away from you. A miracle." I whispered in amazement.

Mother had informed me of dark witches magic, their magic could be very lethal. Especially for a top witch. To heal from their magic would take a miracle.

His eyes widen. "You are saying that I am no longer dying?"

I nod touching his shoulder. The scent of death was slowly fading away. What remained was something more powerful, more powerful than that of the werewolf king and queen. Whatever was in that bottle made this young wolf stronger than a normal wolf.

I look away from him seeing that the sun had began to dip. I needed to leave this place, father should be on his way. Today he was supposed to go to the meeting the wolves held when the full moon is coming.

But he chose not to go, instead he went to look for more of the rare ingredient mother needed. I only hope he was a tad bit late, I did not want him to know I was out late.

The wolf painful cries had subsided but his breathing was harsh. I opened my satchel and quickly started putting the potion bottles back inside. "I must leave wolf. Do not fear for you are no longer dying."

He slowly sits up and stares at me, wincing slightly in pain. "Do you have to go?"

I nod."Aye." I rise from the ground, pulling the straps of the satchel over my shoulder. My green dress had gotten dirty but I don't seem to care. "Perhaps we will see another time. For now I must leave. I must ask of you that you do keep our meeting a secret. For no one should know of what has healed you."

The boy was now no ordinary wolf. That golden flower had made him to become immortal. But I should keep this a secret for they will use him for his power.

He nods. "Aye I will not tell a soul that I allowed a witch to heal me. An eight year old witch I might add." He gives a lopsided smile. I had no doubt that the wolf would grow to become handsome.

Ares

I look into her pretty violet eyes and smile when she turns around to run. Her icy blonde hair whooshing around her shoulders as her small frame become distant.

"Wait! I do not know your name little witch!" I shout and I am surprised at how powerful my voice is. It is not weak.

She turns around her cute face smiling. "It is Rue!" She shout then disappeared behind the thick trees before I could tell her mine. Rue. I tasted the name on my tongue. A beautiful name.

Perhaps we will meet again.

Witches were our enemy and not to be trusted with one's life. But this young witch healed the deep cut I had gotten from escaping my room. Because of my weak body I had fallen not so gently out of the window.

Knowing that mostly every wolf was in the throne room for the meeting I did not have to worry about being caught. So on weak legs I treaded through the woods and made sure to stay clear of the patrolling wolves.

They would no doubt let father know of what I had done and I'd get an earful. I felt the earth beneath my foot as I treaded through the thick foliage until it cleared to a beautiful meadow.

By then the cut on my knee had began to sting more as blood occasionally dropped out. So I decided to rest there only to have a small witch come up behind me without me knowing.

At first I was surprised at how white her hair was and the odd color of purple in her iris which was rare. And what confused me more was that she had no scent.

But then not only did she heal my knee she healed me completely. This little witch that I should despise saved my life.

I looked at where she disappeared a few minutes ago. Her icy hair and violet eyes still in my memory as I stood up. It would get dark soon and I was sure Lucia had noticed my absence from my room.

It was only time until my father sent wolves to look for my whereabouts. So with that thought in mind I started for the castle. My steps stronger than before.

Would I meet her again?
