Relationships in the opening

Helping Lily Did Not Create Mutual Care

Lily reminds Ava that it was Ava who found her and brought her into the pack, then turns that earlier act of help into a taunt. Ava's admission that she did not know Lily was Jax's mate reveals how differently the two women frame the encounter. These opening paragraphs follow the failure of reciprocity through a pointed exchange, with an act Ava remembers as help becoming something Lily uses to assert her present advantage.

How does Lily recast Ava's earlier help, and what does that reveal about their present relationship?
