Relationships in the opening

A Child Needs Shelter After the Raid

After the confrontation, a young child appears at the doorway and sees her father's body. Keeping strictly to child welfare, the relevant relationship is one of adult responsibility: Darius orders that she be removed, fed, and kept away from the scene. Kaelen lowers himself to speak gently, leads her out, and later wraps her in his cloak. In these opening paragraphs, removing her from the room and providing warmth make adult responsibility visible through concrete responses to immediate needs.

How do Darius's orders and Kaelen's actions address the child's immediate needs after the raid?
