Relationships in the opening

A Former Patient Becomes Cassandra's Colleague

Cassandra's present life is sustained by specific acts of care. Emmett rescued her and taught her healing; Marley, once her patient, now works beside her; and the Luna looks after her son during long clinic hours. These relationships do not erase the loneliness she describes, but they complicate it. The opening shows support as practical participation in daily life rather than merely sympathetic words or a promise of future rescue.

How does receiving care lead to Cassandra both giving and receiving support at the clinic?
