Relationships in the opening

Roxanne Follows Annette Out of the Dorm

Annette discovers that Kyle's betrayal also involves Lena, one of her closest friends. Roxanne witnesses her distress, follows her outside, and tries to provide company through an invitation to a bar. An urgent call then interrupts that support, and a mistakenly supplied bus card leaves Annette alone at the entrance. These opening paragraphs contrast a friend's active attempts to comfort Annette with the practical difficulty created by her hurried departure and mistaken card.

Which disappointments arise from betrayal, and which appear to result from hurried or incomplete help?
