Remembering the Protection of the Queen Mother

The queen mother's death changes Harlyn's understanding of how much protection she once received. Without that shelter, she describes a hostile palace and relies on the private companionship of a wolf others do not know exists. The queen mother's remembered reassurance about her birthmark gives Harlyn another instance of being seen kindly. In these opening paragraphs, that memory matters as a personal connection she can recall amid present hostility.

What forms of reassurance remain available to Harlyn after the queen mother's death?
